Ojai: Pink Moment
I photograph subjects sometimes to preserve a memory, sometimes in attempt to record a pattern or color, but what really attracts me is the quality of light.
Ojai had good light!
We ate at Suzanne's for my birthday dinner. I had a shrimp cocktail with mango, ginger, and avocado, duck confit, and a sour cherry crisp for desert. Everything was perfectly prepared, and the setting (pictured above) couldn't be prettier.
We ate at Boccali's one night and had a decent pizza & bottle of rosé wine. The true star of the meal however was the dessert- I know it looks pretty obscene pictured here: a strawberry shortcake. The strawberries were so sweet, fresh and flavorful, and the shortcake was so buttery & had a crumbly consistency almost like freshly baked cornbread. Really good!
Ojai is famous for it's "Pink Moment." Somehow, due to it's geographical location- lined up with an east-west mountain range- just after the sun sets, the Ojai valley fills with a beautiful, soft, pink light.
