Green

Touches of spring from our garden: The beginnings of a strawberry.

Above & below: Fava bean blossoms. I think they are so pretty.

Garden helpers.

It's been a tough week. We had to send so many patients to the hospital at the clinic this past week. I really do believe the coming of a full moon can influence people's behavior.
T's Grandad is very ill as well. Not to mention the earthquakes in Chile & Japan.

It has been a wonderful week, too. My friend had her baby, and my friend GG turned two!

Please take a look at my friend Yu-i's new website. It will make you happy.
And go here (via I'm Revolting). It will make you think.

It's kind of ridiculous how spot on this vintage bag from Lady is: if someone else doesn't buy this, I will. So Ladies of the Canyon.

Debra Baxter III

all photographs courtesy of Debra Baxter

You may remember my friend Debra's work from this post I did about her back in December (An aside: After I posted about her work, it seemed to go viral. It was everywhere. Making all the blogger rounds. I'm not saying I was entirely responsible. Things do seem to have a way of entering the Zeitgeist at the same time. But if you're going to borrow from my blog, & post about it on your blog, please be decent and give credit where credit is due. Ahem.)
I've also posted here about her work.

Well, she's one of the hardest working people I know, and in addition to her sculpture, she is branching into creating jewelry.

Her sculpture is represented by Howard House Gallery in Seattle, but is as of yet unrepresented in L.A. or N.Y.C.

This seems crazy to me! Ahem.

If you are interested in the fabulous work of Ms. Baxter, shoot me an email & I'll pass along your info!

Thanks Deb ;)

Corner View: Street Photography

Sorry for my tardiness and/ or absence lately with the Corner View!

I thought my present job would allow me more time and energy, but I was sadly incorrect.
However, that subject is a post for another day!

These photographs are all street views. From top to bottom:

Future Music & It Might Get Loud

I watched the documentary It Might Get Loud last night with T.
It's about the electric guitar, and it's interpretation as played by Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White.
I thought it might be a bit cheesy (and it is at points), but overall it appealed to my secret desire to be a rock star. It made me really want to learn to play guitar!
I love all kinds of music, and I have to admit I enjoyed seeing footage of these three men before they were uber- famous. The first few minutes of the movie Jack White makes a 'guitar' out of some wood scraps, nails, a wire & a bottle (pictured above). It's pretty cool.
I'm not sure if I can learn to play an instrument. I feel like my brain doesn't work the right way. The gentleman who runs Future Music (a great used vintage instruments shop in our neighborhood- they had a Moog there the last time I went!) has told me on a couple occasions that anyone can learn how to play. That people are wired to play music. I'm not sure I believe him (I'm certain I'm the exception) but it's a nice thought!

It felt like summertime here today. I went out for a walk on my lunch break. I need to do that more.
I heard this band on the radio on the drive home.
The music made me think of Iowa, the cornfields on a humid night, spending the summer with my friends Priscilla & Craig at their gallery/printing studio/theater/home and how good that felt. Things were much simpler, and carefree for me in those days.

My cold is still hanging on.
