Fueled by a lunch in the park of delicious Banh Mi from here ($2.95! For a giant, delicious sandwich!)...we took a little trip to the L.A. Arboretum.
Peacocks wander around the grounds (have you ever heard a peacock...they are LOUD) which are beautiful.

Then we came home, and made dinner later - angel hair pasta using basil from our garden, with homegrown sauteed beans & peppers, and some nice bunches of grapes from our yard.

Going away for a few days tomorrow. I'll be back next week, and re-open the shop to taking a few more custom orders.

I had crazy-horrible insomnia last night (thanks, phenylephrine) but it did give me the opportunity to go through some of my old photos. I found these that I took on this trip, and thought they were pretty nice.
I think it's a good idea every once in a while to go back and investigate one's 'old' work.
You never know what you might find.

Went to see Dudamel conduct Mozart at the Bowl last night with some friends.
Our first Bowl concert of the season! We had a simple picnic beforehand of roasted chicken, hummus, pita, grapes + tomatoes from our garden & red wine.
Seeing concerts at the Hollywood Bowl is one of my favorite things about living Los Angeles...there is nothing quite like picnicking and hearing music in the open air, surrounded by the canyon & the canopy of the night sky.

Received a beautiful package from Jenny the other day...her attention to detail is impeccable.

What else can I say about Jenny and her work that hasn't already been said...except to say that everything good & positive you've heard about her: it's all true.

Sweet, beautiful, talented, goofy & funny as hell.
Yep. That's her. And the clothes...oh, the clothes...so perfectly constructed and wearable. Heirlooms, really.

Lots of stuff for you to look at...
the house & yard this morning. We recently had our front yard landscaped...no lawns for us...we prefer drought- resistant, low maintenance desert rock gardens and plants.

One more outfit. I almost wore this to dinner the other night, but then I chickened out...I'll wear it some other time. Ilana Kohn dress, ERMIE F/W textile silk tank.

I feel like we had our first summer dinner last night: Roasted Cucumber Sandwiches, Roasted Corn with chili, lime, and manchego cheese & chives (both recipes from the current Bon Appetit). Sliced tomatoes with a little Kosher salt. I'd say about 1/3 of the meal was made with food grown in our garden (cucumbers, all the herbs, and the tomato).

and I walked past the spot where I took the photo of shadows cast by plants on the sidewalk that later became the basis for the Ave. 51 Print.
