100th Post and Giveaway!

This, as the title indicates, is my 100th post! I can scarcely believe it.

In honor of my Aunt Ermie (that's her, above) and this numerical event, I'll be giving away some yarn and fabric from my stash. The yarn is 1 skein of Colourscape Chunky by Kaffe Fassett. It's great stuff, soft, 100% lambswool and a little goes a long way. I made this scarf with 1 skein. About a $28 value.

I'll also throw in some remnants of Gocco-printed fabric that I've made. And maybe something else. Who knows?

You'll have until midnight Pacific Standard Time Sunday 2/1/09 to post something about a loved one who has influenced your creativity in a positive way. Then I'll randomly draw a name. Your name will only be entered once. Your odds are very good, since I only have a few (very much appreciated xo! ) loyal posters. I'll post the name of the lucky winner on Monday 2/2/09
Good luck, and thanks for your continued interest in this space :)

Some pages from my spring/summer '08 sketchbook...

This spring Tomory and I plan to be in Paris for our honeymoon. I'd love to have this (or one similar for less $...you might need to refresh the page to see them...) for the trip.

I bought myself some flowers today to cheer myself up. After all that worrying yesterday, I actually got the day off instead of having to float.
I enjoyed the sunshine today, and more of our garden. Thank-you Leslie, Janis, and Ritva (and everyone else!) for your kind comments.

Here is something I found: A little glimpse of the 2009 Nani Iro Collection!

nature helps

Today I came home from work extremely anxious. Feeling bad. Our census is low on my unit, which means tomorrow I'm likely to float to another unit where the patients are more acute, psychotic, unpredictable. Sometimes I worry about getting hurt. The news is depressing me as well. So many jobs being lost.
Tomory had the brilliant idea to go outside and walk around our garden together and "look at the plants."
I feel better now.

J.Roaman

Carla (one of Tomory's wonderful gallerists) and her lovely partner Judi were in town last weekend. While they were here, Judi generously gave us this beautiful pillowcase from her line of home goods.

It's made from a quilt that was initially produced in India.
The embroidery is amazing:

Above: Judi's business card. Her store that she had is no longer open, but her website is still up and running. I love her sense of color, pattern. Be sure to take a look at her upholstered furniture.

kris's color stripes (and notebooks)

Haven't looked at Kris's Color Stripes yet?
You should! It's completely inspiring. Stuck with coming up with a color scheme for a project? A visit to her blog will unblock you.
Kris has made amazing calendars, prints, and now these note books.
They come in 3 different sizes, and 2 colourways.

The note book above, pictured in the center, was inspired by this post by Kris.

I always seem to need a notebook, and they make great gifts! Nice work Kris :)

sandra juto wrist worms

I received my Wrist Worms from Sandra Juto in the mail the other day. Yes, it has been in the 80's here temperature- wise during the day. I get up at the crack of dawn to go to my nursing job, and it is still cold then! I love these. Sometimes, you see something and you think : "I could make that." With these I thought : "But why make it, when it already has been so perfectly done by someone else?"
Sandra just created a website devoted solely to her Wrist Worms. Take a look at it, and her blog...you won't be disappointed!
