L-O-V-E H-A-T-E
Rachel Comey: Why do you keep taunting me? Why??
Just when I think; "I'm good. I'm done. I'm set. I don't need or want to buy any more clothes or shoes for a while."
You do it again!!
I love you. Damn you.

Perks And Mini
From the P.A.M site: "Perks and Mini is Misha Hollenbach and Shauna T. They live in Melbourne, Australia.
PAM are great appreciators of nice things. They collect art and furniture, watch a lot of movies, always listen to music and enjoy lots of nice food.
Consequently they want to give something back to the world, as a way of saying “thank you” for the things they love...Perks And Mini are always working on something. Their clothing label started in 2000 and is still going strong with stockists worldwide. Their spirit is freedom, creativity, fun, love and good, hard work…..and outer/inner space."I just got this dress on sale at Creatures of Comfort.
The last photo is from Perks and Mini's SP 2008 "Space Face" collection. I still think about this print (Is that weird?)
I loved it so much...if anyone reading this out there owns this dress and ever wants to part ways with it- let me know, I'd probably be interested in purchasing it!

Fashion is what you wear while doing something much more interesting.
Before there was Isabel M., there was Daryl K.
Back in the 1990's I owned a couple pairs of her pants she designed (she made the best pants) , a fitted red hooded sweatshirt with a little pocket built into the back, and a simple chunky knit inside out, snap- front navy cardigan (my descriptions don't do her designs justice- I can't believe I gave these pieces away!!) . Kim Gordon was a fan, and recently auctioned off some of her vintage Daryl K pieces for charity.
I still love Daryl Kerrigan's work. She's a survivor- her company has been through so many incarnations, trials and tribulations, and she still keeps creating. Gotta admire that.
All above images from Daryl K's Spring 2010 collection.

Red, Yellow & Blue
New haircut & color with a reddish tint to it.
New Frayed- Edge ERMIE blouse in sunny yellow linen.
I am heartened by all of your words of encouragement from yesterday's post.
It was not an easy decision to come to.
It was hard to tell a couple co-workers in particular- who are lovely people, and amazing nurses, because I know my departure leaves them short-handed, and I hate feeling like I'm letting people down.
My brain keeps trying to convince me I am making a mistake. My heart (mostly) says otherwise.
Thank-you, all of you, for your kindness.

Bokeh
I had never even heard of the term bokeh - or- "the aesthetic quality of the blur" (according to Wikipedia) until I joined Flickr. There are whole groups on that site devoted to the art of capturing bokeh.
In these photos above I was trying to portray what it looks like for me to look out of my bedroom window early in the morning , while still lying in bed (I am very nearsighted).
***Other news. I gave notice at my job. I'm quitting. Taking a break from nursing.
It was necessary. If you have been reading my blog, you may have noticed how much I've been sick in the past 6 months, and I believe stress from work played a big role.
I will be working on textile design, and making small clothing collections.
If you are a store owner, and you may be interested my work, shoot me an email (found under my profile).
I'll be going to Seattle mid-June. To see my good friend Amber, and to continue to brainstorm about a project with her.
I'll be taking care of the house. And relaxing. And living. And trying to have a kid (TMI??) . And Blogging.
I'm excited, and scared, but mostly excited.

By Ilana
Designer Ilana Kohn has been hard at work on her Summer collection-
here are some images from her first look book. The pieces are cleanly designed, and look really well made. Breezy little cotton separates and dresses for those hot, hot days ahead. Congratulations Ilana!

Art Saturday
Views of Tim Hawkinson's Mummy Hand at Blum & Poe- the hand is made from dried bananas, apples, and the ring a gold twist tie.
Genius. Creepy. Funny.
Below- upstairs installation shot at Blum & Poe.
Started off our Art Saturday at the Hammer- we went there to see Jung's Red Book- small but amazing exhibit.
Then off to Culver City! We stopped into see Heather Taylor at her gallery. The new exhibit looked great- and Heather was as fashionable as ever- wearing a Kathryn Bentley necklace, and these pants from J. Crew I blogged about (that I also happened to purchase shortly after posting about them- they are so comfy...you don't want to take them off)
and the most beautiful shade of lipstick. Heather, if you are reading this- you must tell me what lipstick you were wearing!
In addition to making the rounds at Blum & Poe, Cherry and Martin, and others- we went to Ori Gersht's incredible show at Angles Gallery.
For a pit stop: Popped into the Mandrake for a beer -enjoyed outside on the back patio of the bar.
We ended the evening in Santa Monica to enjoy home cooked pasta carbonara a la Tomory's Uncle Charlie.
A lovely day.
