KFF: Vintage Series, outtakes

Joanna's great post is up today, featuring my photography.
I first saw the film version of Play It As It Lays at a Cinefamily** screening that took place in 2010 at the Silent Movie Theater. It was a rare screening --shown only one night, and having just read the book- I had to attend. Like Joanna, I fell in love with the film, and the brilliant costumes featured throughout. (I previously blogged about seeing the film here).
It was only later, after I had met Joanna in person and we had become friends, that I found out we had both attended that rare screening that night. I love the idea of us sitting separately in that theater, falling hard for that film, not yet aware of each other's existence, not knowing at that time we would eventually meet and become friends.
After seeing Joanna's initial Vintage Series posts, I approached her about photographing her for future Series posts. One of my goals for this year, is to become a better photographer of people. I was finding my photos sadly absent of the presence of others. Photographing Joanna would be fun and marvelous practice. To my amazement she said yes, and to my excitement she came up with the concept of using Play It As it Lays as a visual & conceptual spring board for the shoot.
Of course it had to happen.
Serendipity. Love it.

Here are some outtakes of Looks 3, and 4 from the Keep Feeling Fascination Vintage Series. Enjoy, and look for Part 2, featuring Look 5, on Thursday of this week on her blog.

This weekend I photographed Joanna for her blog at El Matador beach. It's for her Vintage Series- and was inspired by the Joan Didion novel and film, Play It As It Lays. We had a blast. Look for her full post tomorrow!

This Tuesday I had the good fortune to be included as an exhibitor at a small private showing that took place at the Kneeland Co. studio for a group of buyers from Anthropologie's Home Department (including textiles, tabletop, gifts, bedding and beauty products). The event was hosted and curated by my lovely and amazing  friend Joanna Williams. Being the shutterbug that I am, I volunteered to document the afternoon. Above are a few outtakes; the rest of the photos may be seen on Joanna's blog today...and you may also read more about the event there! I was so impressed by my fellow exhibitors and their creations- each unique and gorgeous. The buyers were all smart women with keen eyes--it was wonderful to chat with them about art, craft and process.

So much talent in this fair city of Los Angeles! Thank you again, Joanna, for this wonderful opportunity.

I'm pleased to announce that ERMIE is now being carried by Pretty Mommy. Owner & curator of Pretty Mommy, Michelle LeBlanc, has wonderful taste and has stocked her online store with amazing lines--I am humbled to be included on a roster that consists of the likes of Clare Vivier, Shabd, Erin Considine, Ilana Kohn, Object & Totem, Rennes, Wren...the list goes on.

I've made two limited edition dresses for Pretty Mommy: The Dolman Sleeve Afterparty Print Dress (pics 1-3, currently sold out--but we are working on restocking this style!) and the ethereal Prism Print Midi Dress in Ultra Violet (pics 4-6). You won't see these dresses anywhere else but Pretty Mommy...so act fast :) !

I have a pretty serious wishlist myself going on at Pretty Mommy:

As it happens, Michelle is having a Mother's Day Sale, now through Mother's Day. Enter "Momsday" at checkout and receive 20% off your purchase (my dresses excluded! Sorry!) .
