...around Lake Staz with Tomory & Monica on the outskirts of St. Moritz, on the day before we returned to Zurich. We made a 20-30 minute hike to the restaurant of the Hotel Lej da Staz for lunch. I had Gluhwein, Gerstensuppe, a salad of various lettuces, thinly sliced roast beef dressed in an onion vinagrette, and a slice flourless chocolate torte (I ate a lot on this trip! I did split the salad & torte with Monica and Tomory). We then hiked back to our car after lunch and drove into St. Moritz itself and visited the small but lovely Segantini Museum.

Translation of the above:
"It is within our own soul that we human beings make a heaven or a hell."

Perhaps my favorite Sgraffito in Zuoz? It is really impossible to choose--but this house reminded me so, so much of my friend Janis Anzalone and her beautiful work. Janis and I have never met in person, but one day I am confident we will. Janis' blog was one of the very first I stumbled upon when I started blogging in 2008. I still read it, and find beauty in each of her posts. If you aren't already- do yourself a favor and follow her blog.

Monica De Cardenas Galleria

The reason I was in Switzerland was for my husband Tomory's art opening at the Monica De Cardenas Gallery in Zuoz.

The gallery itself is amazingly beautiful: it is an Engadin (Engadinian?) farmhouse from the 15th century, formerly known as the Chesa Albertini, which was renovated and modified by the architect Hans-Jörg Ruch. Not only did we have the pleasure of experiencing Tomory's paintings in the space- we also stayed at the gallery itself in one of three cabin-like rooms located on the 2nd floor of the gallery.

I'm still very jet-lagged so I am having a difficult time describing the comfortable, elegant, rustic beauty of this space. So I'll just let these images & the links speak for me...

Photographs courtesy of Beklina.

A little break from the Switzerland photos for a big announcement:
ERMIE is now at Beklina!!

As long as I have had this blog, I have been a huge fan of designer Lina Rennell and her online boutique Beklina. In fact, I'm not exaggerating when I say this is actually a dream come true for me to have my work included among beautiful the goods offered in her store.

For Beklina I have created an exclusive design- the After Party Print in a simple tank dress with a matching sash (I love this dress so much, I made one for myself and wore it to Tomory's opening in Switzerland). It's the perfect dress to ring in the New Year with a little wrap or cardigan, and will transition easily into the warmer months yet to come.

Worn here with French Enameled Lockets, also available at Beklina.

A very limited edition. Don't miss out!

Sold Out! Thanks Everyone!!

We spent most of our trip in Zuoz...a tiny town located in the Upper Engadin region of the canton Graubünden.
We were told by our hosts that this area was considered a sacred area, special -unlike any other in Switzerland...mystical in a sense...dotted with burial grounds dating back to the Bronze Age. Renowned for the special quality of light.

In the words of Ferdinand Hodler, a Swiss painter:
"I have never seen light as it is up here..."

Yes.
