It's been so hot here. We are in the middle of a heat wave. Here are some photos I took at sunset a few nights ago. Have a great weekend!

Corner View: The Unveiling, Showing Your True Self.
This is a tough one. If you read my blog, then you have already seen photographs of me here and/or on Flickr. I think it is really difficult to intentionally show your true self. Especially through the medium of photography. And through the medium of the blog. You are always editing, selecting what you want people to see.
The top photograph was taken by my husband Tomory. The day after our wedding. I was so tired. I took a nap. You are pretty defenseless when you sleep...but I messed with the color and the lighting in this photograph...to make it look "better" ...and I cropped out my legs, and underpants ;)
The other photo. It's Tomory and me at the end of our wedding reception. Before the after-party. Tipsy, tired, my
makeup is all worn off. I snapped a photo of us before we went back to Irene's Adobe for more celebrating. But I still gave this the old B&W treatment...to make us look less harsh!
The weekend we married and during our honeymoon- was probably the most I've felt like my true self in a while. No work. No real stress. Just enjoying the world together.

Bottega Louie & Gardening
Finally went to Bottega Louie after hearing so much about it from friends. It's a restaurant, bar, bakery, and gourmet foods market. Lots of brass fixtures and white walls. It's giant!
We had the sausage pizza (good) and the Louie Salad (ok) wine (good) and strawberry sorbet (ok...we ordered peach and got strawberry??).
Actually the high point of the trip for me was meeting a very friendly woman who worked there named Ellie (sp?). She has worked as a professional organic gardener in the past, and we got to talking about worms, soil, and some delicious heirloom plants. She gave us a whole list of vegetables & fruit she'd suggest planting (the names in and of themselves are just great) :
Stars and Moon Watermelon
Mr. Stripey Tomatoes
Purple Cherokee Tomato
Rosa Bianca Eggplant
Lemon Cucumber
Dragon's Tongue Beans
Zapotec Pleated Tomato
xo

Aaron Morse at ACME

Now at ACME.
We went to Aaron's opening last night. What a gorgeous show! If you are in the Los Angeles area, try to see it before it closes on 8/15/09.
You can also purchase notebooks designed by Aaron at the MOMA.
In the second photograph from the top Aaron is holding a huge flower given to him by two of the guests at the opening -so amazing! It's called a Dutchman's Pipe (Aristolochia gigantea).

Feeling Grey & Rust

...or Dove & Burnt Sienna, Overcast and Burnt Orange... whatever you want to call it. I'm liking this color combo...and it's no coincidence that it's popping up in my palette for my Ermie Fall/ Winter 09-10 collection. All images J. Crew Pre- Fall.
