Taken at 0630 this morning. I can't live without my coffee with milk. Not this early, not before work!

UPDATE: Remember this guy? Well ! The piece is by Cheryl Cambras- a local Los Angeles artist. Cheryl was nice enough to leave a comment and enlighten me about her work. (Thanks Cheryl !) She has a blog where you can see more of her fun work here.

Another piece of fabric that I printed . Reminds me of African Mud Cloth.

What shall I use it for? A scarf...? Hmmm.

My big news is Tomory gave me a Virginia Johnson scarf. I have been lusting after her designs for a while now...it's beautiful. The fabric is divine, and the print is so lighthearted.

I found website that has an audio/ slide show presentation of Virginia Johnson discussing her work. It includes images from her sketch books. Worth watching- you can see it here.

More inspiring textiles from our shopping excursion yesterday.

A Paul Smith scarf:
I love stripes.
And Paul Smith does good stripes.

From a Vena Cava Dress:

A knit from Alexander McQueen:

I don't know what this is but I like it: A giant (grumpy?) crochet bird. Surrounded by multi- colored offspring.

Taken at LACMA. Which was packed last night. I wish I could give the artist credit, but I can't determine who it is from LACMA's website. It's a fun piece that people of all ages seemed to be enjoying.
Art and fashion. Went to the Hammer, LACMA, and did some window shopping Saturday. Snapped some images of prints that caught my eye while perusing the sale racks at Barney's. Below:

Above: print from the Jacqueline dress by Sariah

The Hammer had some wonderful exhibits up.
I was able revisit a favorite Alice Neel painting entitled
"Thanksgiving" (below)

Ended up at an opening at ACME where they had a Lisa Sanditz piece on display.

In the studio the last few days. The results:

This last one below I especially love.
Often, I find myself liking my newsprint waste sheets more then the original design that I intended. So I decided to replicate a waste sheet.
I'm pretty happy with it. I hope to do more work going in this direction.
'Painterly' prints if that makes any sense.

Detail of the larger fabric piece above.

Shots from studio: more to come!
