Saori

weaving

Yesterday I attended a Saori method weaving workshop. I didn't know what to expect--I had tried to take a weaving class before, but found myself lost and eventually disinterested with so many steps in setting up the loom (ADD). With this class, the loom was already threaded with the warp...so all I had to do was...weave! It was incredibly fun. Fumi, the instructor, took the photos of me weaving and wearing the finished piece...it's a bit short for a scarf, but it is currently functioning as a nice wall hanging in my living room.

I am intrigued by the possibilities.

A Saori loom and lessons have shot up to items 1 & 2 on my birthday wishlist!
Thank-you Fumi-san and TGS for a lovely, relaxing afternoon.

More pics on my Instagram.

Love - and you look so radiant! At first glance I thought it was a cropped vest instead of a scarf - would it be possible to piece something like that together?

Leanne,

thank you! It was sooo relaxing. They made us the most amazing tea, and gave us cream puffs after :)

As far as piecing weaving together for a vest; absolutely. I've actually been dying to make a funky fuzzy woven vest/ jacket for this next collection!

Hi Jade,
Thanks :)
It's a vintage dress from Weltenbuerger!
I love that little detail, too. Maybe it will show up in a future ERMIE collection ;)

i was an apprentice weaver for a stint. and i agree, the road block for me was always the set up. and i couldn't navigate how to break the rules (hehe) to come up with my own designs. but ohhhhhhhh you have it. so good i can't stand it!
