We spent most of our trip in Zuoz...a tiny town located in the Upper Engadin region of the canton Graubünden.
We were told by our hosts that this area was considered a sacred area, special -unlike any other in Switzerland...mystical in a sense...dotted with burial grounds dating back to the Bronze Age. Renowned for the special quality of light.
In the words of Ferdinand Hodler, a Swiss painter:
"I have never seen light as it is up here..."
Yes.

STUNNING! You make me miss snow, not that I grew up with it at all.
It looks beautiful, but SO cold. It must have been so different to the climate you are used to.
How nice that you got to spend time in such a special place, and with people who understand the significance of the area. I always prefer to stay with locals when I travel somewhere - you get to discover things that you might not if you were alone.
These images are beyond! Magical indeed....more Swiss posts please, but after you've slept ;)
I am loving your pictures of Switzerland! I loved how all the houses in the last post had a lace embroidery work on the window. So charming.
Beautiful pics. Wish I were there.
