Corner View: Noticing

Made it for this week's CV in the nick of time.

I noticed a lot of nice things in Seattle; just returned today.
Here are some of the things I noticed, and I wanted to share with you.
More to follow soon (artist's studios, restaurants, shopping) including a give-a-way.

I noticed I need to visit all of my awesome friends in Seattle more often.
7 years between visits was far too long!

Top to bottom:

Poppy in Debbie's garden
Young ferns in Schmitz Park
Feather found in Schmitz Park
Crab found on the shore at Lincoln Park
More objects from the shore
Stones on Sean & Amber's table.

Now that's what I'm talking about!

When I mentioned making clothing more like art a couple of days ago, afterwards I came across images of this dress by Susan Cianciolo that perfectly illustrates what I was trying to write about.

For her latest collection Cianciolo is using organic cotton and re-purposed fabrics, as well as dyes made from fruit!

One of a kind, hand stitched details, interesting combination of materials- so exquisite. I would wear this in a
heart beat.

You can also catch a glimpse of one of her pieces in this post I did last fall (it's the detail shot of the yellow blouse).

** As of today I'll be in Seattle for about a week. I'll post again here when I return. Please think good travel thoughts for me, say a prayer, what have you- I'll be flying out this morning...and I have a terrible phobia about flying.
Love to travel, HATE to fly. What are you gonna do?

Thanks & have a wonderful week!

Corner View: Daily

Some Things I do on a Daily basis.

1. Have a cup of coffee made on my stove top every morning (always with milk, sometimes with a tiny spoonful of sugar).

2. Sew...or make something in some way -write, take photos, sketch, cook a meal, etc.

3. Marvel at nature.

4. Spend too much time online. Marvel at all the talented and kind people out there in cyberspace- like you!

5. Blog. See # 4.

6. I worry a lot, but I also try not to let anxiety & negative emotions get the best of me.

7. Sometimes enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.

8. Feel Gratitude, and give thanks.

9. Hug & Kiss my husband.

10. Feel Gratitude, and give thanks.

See Spain Daily for more Corner Views!

Right Now

Inspirations: Right Now! Color & Pattern ( right back at you, Natasha :) from Mina Stone. Images from Stuart & Wright and Domahoka.

Reading: Joan Didion's The White Album- nervous breakdowns, and hanging out with the Doors. So far so good.

Listening: MGMT: "Siberian Breaks" Holy sh*t, I know I'm the last person on earth to listen to this...but heard this song on KCRW as I was driving to LAX to pick up Tomory.I was hoping, praying is was maybe new Belle and Sebastian (I stopped listening to them a long time ago) - because it reminded me so much of all of their great EP's they did- Lazy Line Painter Jane, 3, 6, 9 Seconds of Light, Dog on Wheels...but alas, no. Still a great song, though. MGMT. Who knew?

***Really wish I could show you some of the prints I'm working on, but I'm waiting to get them back from the printer (they are digital prints), and I need to copyright them first! They are either really ugly, or really beautiful. I can't decide which.

****My 500th post was a couple days ago. I do plan to celebrate with a giveaway. I'm going to Seattle for a few days, and plan to bring stuff back (for the give away) from Uwajimaya.

Off to sew.
xx

Moon Canyon

I took a 'marathon' 1.5 hour walk the other day.

I've been doing it like this: No cell phone. No iPod. Just my house key & my camera.
No water even (stupid...was really wishing I had some at the end of this walk).
I head off in one direction. No plan in mind. No map. Just go...I kind of get lost and have to find my way back.
I came upon "Moon Canyon" after hiking up into the Mt. Washington neighborhood. What? I never even knew this was there!
I started to descend into the 'canyon'. My urban mind started to go wild. What if somebody is down there and attacks me? No one knows that I'm here...no cell phone...a woman alone... What If I keel over because I'm so out of shape? I'm really out of breath...man this is a bad idea...

I went down in anyway.

It was more of a very tiny gully, really. Kind of pretty. Reminded me a bit of the landscape of CA's central coast.

And nothing bad happened.

Below: couple more shots as I descended back down into my 'hood.
Hope your weekend was great.

June Gloom here...but I'm trying to take colorful photos for you! Taken on my latest walk up Mount Washington.
Definitely notice a dip in my mood on the days that I don't walk...so I'm really trying to get some exercise everyday. Taking photos while tromping around my neighborhood makes the experience more palatable (I am so out of shape...my heart and lungs are crap...hoping it will get easier soon).

Simple

Whew, that was a wordy post yesterday!

I wasn't angry or upset...just thinking...trying to clarify.

Let's enjoy something simpler for today- goodness from the South Pas. Farmer's Market.

Berries & Sweet Pea blossoms. See? Simple.
