New Liberty prints. Drool. Liberty is definitely on my must see list when I visit London in the spring!

Nani Iro Antique Label

Just came across this collection yesterday.
I love Naomi Ito's textile designs-these are so different than what she usually does.
Some resemble wallpaper! Others remind me of Liberty prints. Really interesting-I think the palette is what makes them work.

Lina Rennell & Mociun SP 2010

Above: Lina Rennell SP 2010. Images courtesy Lina Rennell, via treehugger
Below: Caitlin Mociun SP 2010. Images courtesy Caitlin Mociun, also via treehugger.

I'm completely enamored with Lina's triangle print, on her shift dress as shown here. I guess I'm officially collecting her shift dresses now: I have and dearly love both her Ikat Cat & Ant Print Shift Dresses from Spring & Fall 2009 respectively. Must have this latest print!
The shirt dress also looks so comfy, I'd live in it all season long.

Mociun, Mociun, Mociun. What to say? She impresses me every season.
Her shapes just keep getting more and more interesting, and her prints, oh her prints. That first dress kills me!

Bohemian Rhapsody

My friend Camille of Lady does it again: love these new pieces in her shop!!

Plus this necklace, and this neckace (Heavy Metal Necklace) - are still available, ladies!

Patti Smith: Dream of Life

Smith with Filmmaker Sebring

Smith & Smith (R.I.P. Fred Sonic Smith- 20th Century)

A dress worn by Smith in her childhood

Patti & Robert Mapplethorpe

Persian Urn, belonging to Smith, containing the ashes of Robert Mapplethorpe

Tomory was sick with a cold for New Year's Eve, and went to bed early. I, being the night owl that I am, stayed up late and watched this compelling documentary on the artist Patti Smith.

I've always loved Patti, but this film renewed my love.

Shot over a period of over 10 years, by filmmaker Steven Sebring, the film is a beautiful meditation on what it means to be an artist, mother, wife, revolutionary in today's world.

Highly recommended if you can catch it.

Go here for the film's official website

and here to watch a conversation with the filmmaker.

Around Linen

Another happy purchase from Kinokuniya.

This book is a craft book/catalog/magazine of sorts published by FOG Linen Work.
Like the other books I just posted about, it contains patterns for making clothing and accessories with instructions, and attractive photography.
There are articles (in Japanese) on Lotta Jansdotter, Tamar Mongendorff, and even a teeny tiny article on Caitlin Mociun, that also mentions Lena!
