Panic, Doubt

Anyone ever feel this way when you are making something, and planning on showing it to others, and selling the object that you've made?
Maybe it's because I'm a beginner in terms of sewing and knitting. Making things for myself is fine, and I would like to take my work to the next level and share it. I like the clothing that I am making very much, and so far I have had wonderful reactions from people. But I worry- what if when people see the garments up close, they don't like them? What if they want their money back? What if they only see the imperfections? I've made prototypes and tested them (the printing doesn't wash off, the garments don't fall apart, they fit...) but when I look at them, I see where there is room for improvement. Which I think is normal in terms of the creative process. If you are completely satisfied with your creations, there wouldn't be any impulse to learn and create something new. Maybe this is a rhetorical post :)

I feel this way with every single thing I make.
the good thing is that it makes you strive to do better each time:)

  3. Yes, Uniform Studio said it well, this is so normal. I feel this all the time...sometimes Daniel gets so frustrated with me when I try to perfect something too much, I am almost never satisfied. But then I'll step away from it (the project) for a while and find I have a new appreciation and perspective.

Your dresses and designs are beautiful! Take a break and don't be so hard on yourself - especially now...xoxo, j.

  10. i know exactly how you feel, i feel this way each time i post a new animal and lately when i've shown my first two quilts. i think it must be an important part of the creative process, something that makes us re-evaluate our work and try to improve upon it. however, you need to also be happy with what you make, and i for one am super happy with your dress- it's so beautiful.
