Corner View: White

Breaking the Blog Moratorium temporarily to participate in Natsumi's theme for this week's Corner View: White.

I immediately think of Krzysztof Kieslowski's film of the same name from the Trois Couleurs Trilogy. Although White was probably my least favorite of the three movies, they are some my all-time favorite films.

I hardly ever wear white, as I am very sloppy. That, and I think I was traumatized by having to wear my white cotton-poly uniform in nursing school for an entire year!

Blogging Moratorium

Well, Summer has been officially over now for a few days, and Fall is here (at least technically..we are in the midst of another heatwave here in SoCal). My summer was full of sewing, knitting, printing. BBQ-ing. Children. Growing veggies in our garden and eating them.
We sadly only made it to the beach once during the season.

I'm taking a break from my blog to prepare for the opening of my store. And starting my new job. And taking a little break up the Central Coast (hopefully there will be some beach time involved). I may join in the Corner View in the interim...but I may not. Email me if you'd like to chat...I'll still be checking out other people blogs. I'll see you in about a month from now...near the end of October!

** Oh, I know you have all probably seen the "Monster" triangle print before here, & here...I put another shot of it up because I'm super excited about using it on a brown linen dress I'll be adding to the shop!

I'm going to be taking a little break soon from blogging so I can get the shop ready to open on 10/31/09. So much to do. At least one more dress style I'm really excited about, one more cowl,
and hopefully I'll have time to make multiples of the Art Class Smock and Constellation Dress.

How can some of these items be sold out already? Sheesh.
I'd wear the cape with the folkloric print dress for day, and the black & gold dress with the leopard print coat for evening.

I had such a fun time with this theme, since here in L.A. -we spend so much time in our cars- one may as well take advantage of it and make something beautiful.

I think I'm under the influence of my friend Amber, who is a shoe fiend (and I mean that in the best possible way, Amber!). I came across this new line, a branch of Cole Haan, Cole, Rood & Haan via the Oh, Joy! blog.
I love all of these shoes. I think there is something a little rock 'n' roll about them. A little Flying Burrito Bros. A little Gram Parsons (that's him, above, for those of you who don't know, in the pink pants, and above again in the white Nudie suit with the red cross...I think he was under the influence of his friend Keith Richards at the time, style-wise, and er, uh, otherwise. He's my dead rock star crush).
