You may have noticed that the work in my most recent collections has been focusing on hand dyed textiles, especially those using tie dye techniques. I learned the art of tie dyeing from my mom when I was a child growing up in the 70's and 80's. I also credit Shabd Simon- Alexander with opening my eyes to the possibilities of modernizing this ancient craft, and using it in new and vital ways. I had the pleasure of taking an introduction to Fiber Reactive Dyes class with Alexander, (who is an excellent teacher), about a year ago at Oooga Booga, here in Los Angeles.
People often ask me what resources I recommend as an introduction to some of the various techniques I use, and I can finally say that this is the perfect book for that purpose! It's bright, beautifully designed, easy to understand, colorful, informative and inspiring.
Just leave a comment here, under this post, about a craft or craft technique that you have been wanting to explore, by 12:01 am PST , 8/14/13. Make sure I have a way to contact you!
I will draw the name of one winner at random, & announce it here on 8/15/13. I will send the book to the winner, free of charge to anywhere in the world.
Good luck, and thank you to Shabd, and Potter Craft, and Random House for making this give-away possible!
xx
