Indigo is such an incredible substance. Did I ever tell you about Matt Dick's store in San Francisco? - it's a tiny little place on Post Street called Tsurukichi. His indigo cloth comes from a family in Japan that's been dyeing with indigo for generations. Matt is super talented, funny and sweet and he has my dream set up - a teeny store front workshop. The other SF fiber person that I've always meant to tell you about (if you haven't already seen her work) is Angelina DeAntonis, who has been creating incredible itajime dyed clothing (Ocelot Clothing) for many years. I have a silk tank of hers that was dyed with indigo and then itajime discharged.
Just beautiful...
ReplyDeleteThank you Sierra :) xx
