Without further ado:
The winner of the Scarf giveaway is Norelle K.!
Congratulations!
I loved, loved, loved reading all of your comments about where you picture yourself in 3 years. Positive and inspiring.
Thank-you all!
Speaking of pictures, (eh, lame segue way )...I hate posting without images...so I searched my files for some of my photographs that I'm pretty sure I haven't posted here before:
In the process of looking through my files--I rediscovered the images below that I have been meaning to post on this blog for awhile. I initially Tumbld across these images months ago, and I kept thinking about them as I was designing the ERMIE F/W '11 collection. Especially the last photo; all of those warm colors & textile goodness!
The photographs were all taken from an editorial in Life Magazine, about craft in America, via Google Image Search. The original link to these images is somewhere on my Tumblr, but I'll be darned if I can find it!

Oh wow, so many great images! I love the one of the obsessed textile lady with her two boys -- reminds me of someone...
ReplyDeleteI spy my Tord Boontje icarus lamp. :)
I'll reserve my comment about that first pic until we're alone. ;) I do love it, but wow!
You're really really good at taking pictures!! xoxox
C- thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe top pic--I know. I was trying to develop it into a textile, and it started to creep me out. I realized, hm, I don't think people are going to want to wear a flower vagina!
But using it for a blog post photo: perfectly acceptable. ;)
That first LIFE photo is a brunette you. The boys are even the right age.
A husband is buried under those heaps of yarn in the Life living room.
ReplyDeleteWe had a big skein in bed one night. C fell asleep at her work. Later, she rolled over and held the skein in her arms. She was a woman holding a man on the night before he is off to the trenches; as if the heat of her breasts would bring him enough luck to shutter out the draft of death.
At that moment, I realized I was playing second fiddle to dyed sheep hair.

I felt like I must have a bit of a gutter mind thinking that top picture resembled a vagina. It is a relief to know that either all three of us have a dirty mind or it really does look like that to most people. That aside, it is incredibly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThose Life Magazine photos are so great that they look staged. If someone took a photo of me weaving with two young children behind me it would be a lot more chaotic!
Oooh, those life photos are fab!
ReplyDeleteSo rad! Love the colors of those fibers.
