Fueled by a lunch in the park of delicious Banh Mi from here ($2.95! For a giant, delicious sandwich!)...we took a little trip to the L.A. Arboretum.
Peacocks wander around the grounds (have you ever heard a peacock...they are LOUD) which are beautiful.

Then we came home, and made dinner later - angel hair pasta using basil from our garden, with homegrown sauteed beans & peppers, and some nice bunches of grapes from our yard.

Going away for a few days tomorrow. I'll be back next week, and re-open the shop to taking a few more custom orders.

If you are in Seattle, go to see this show tomorrow night. Maybe I'll see you there :)

  1. Peacocks just aren't as graceful sounding as they are looking, are they? And the pea hen - they are not anywhere near as pretty. Poor pea hen.

I love making food with produce from my garden. There is nothing more satisfying. That looks delicious.

  3. Amazing that you can get *anything* for $2.95 nowadays, let alone a delicious-looking sandwich...

I had heard peacock cries in lots of BBC dramas (you know, the big manor house with rolling lawns) but never made the connection that they were coming from the birds until a few years ago. So eerie!
