Wonky Pots

So, I got my glazed pots back and the results were not exactly what I expected!



The glaze on the pot below did not turn out like I wanted it to at all. See that little bit of turquoise? The pot was supposed to be that color! My least favorite of the three. I'm showing you the best part of the glaze in nice lighting. The rest is a dull brown, olive color. Very, um, earthy.



This one I like. It turned out pretty much as I pictured it:





I'm on the fence about this last one. The bowl itself is funny because it's so tiny and clumsy- it looks like a pinch pot. The glaze on this was supposed to be red, but I didn't apply it thickly enough. I like the dark incised marks- I was going for that effect. The inside is nice (top photo). Maybe I'll use it as a salt bowl or something...



So, my least favorite- I took some clippings of succulents from our yard & planted them in the pot.




Now I have a nice little potted plant for our outdoor table!

Our yard on an average afternoon. Pomegranates came early this year*. Big- ass garden spider **. A table & chair set that my mom painted --my parent's first dining room table. I've had it for almost 15 yrs.

* It was around 80 degrees here yesterday. I wanted something cool for dessert. You know what's good? Fresh pomegranate seeds over vanilla ice cream! (okay, maybe there was a square of salted dark chocolate covered caramel in there or two...)

** It's eating bees :(

Triangle Dress

ERMIE F/W '11 Dolman Sleeve Dress in the Yarn Print, Mojave colorway.
I'm not sure I'll make this dress in this print, because I'll be using it on a version of the"Triangle" dress in this post.

However, once the F/W collection is released, and you like what you see here, I can still make it for you. I do take special orders. * Beatrice's shoes are wonderful. So comfortable for traipsing around L.A. all day-which I did last weekend when the above photo was taken. A little heel would look nicer with this dress-esp. to minimize my cankles- but seriously- I don't understand how women can walk around in heels all day long. Total torture.
(Wish my Mociun -Krantz necklace was turned around in that first photo, too.
Can't always get what you want...)

Some days are really good days.

Hadley & I went to see my friend David John's striking installation at LAMA, then had a little lunch here,
took Laurel Canyon Blvd. down to see the great Andrea Zittel show at Regen, and topped it off with a stop at IKO IKO's lovely new digs.

That little indigo plant in the last pic went home with me. (It's the work of Britt Browne- who's blog is one of my current faves).
