Woah. They look like little aliens! Tiny baby grasshoppers on our lemon balm.

Found While Walking

IMG_5822
I did a mail swap with Jamie ("artist, crafter, writer, photographer, mother interested in nature, walking & textiles") of
Found While Walking.
I sent her some yardage, and she made me a weaving. The hand stitching and beading are unexpected and wonderful. It's now hanging in the window of my studio.

Also found while walking today...after my (great!) visit with David...

Textile designs © Jennifer Parry Dodge 2011

Some color for your weekend.

More textiles for fall...1-3 a spectrum print in different colorways...this print was made from a photograph I took of a spectrum cast on the wall by one of our bike's reflectors. Yup. It's true.

Alternate colorways for these prints...

Still not sure about naming these...after bands? Songs? Artists? Nothing seems quite right. I don't want to give them seasonal names...because these prints will probably show up again in some form in S/S '12 too...hm.
Thoughts?

So excited for fall: I'm collaborating with a very talented artist which may yield leather belts, and a sweater or two!!

Have a good one!

My brother in law was in town for about 24 hours, so between trips to the airport it was all about chillin' and cooking at home.

Tomory made ribs smoked on our BBQ and I made sides of red beans and rice & collard greens.
The ribs were so good- but meat overload! We decided to eat light the next day & made udon soup with vegetables from scratch.
I made the dashi while T. made the noodles. They are made with just flour and salt water...but you have to knead & step on dough for a long time!

I also made a lemon barley drink to go along with the udon that I saw on Venetia. The recipe calls for lemon balm --which I picked from our garden. You make a simple syrup by reducing the strained broth (with lemon juice & sugar added) made by simmering the barley & lemon balm. I'm not sure if I could really taste the barley or lemon balm in the finished drink- but it was very refreshing!

I almost love wrapping my orders as much as I love designing the prints & the clothing...

The leaf print vintage dress in the last pic is another purchase from Kneeland :)
